My Treatment FAQs

My Treatment

What option should I choose to start?

If you're accessing mental health care for the first time and are unsure which type of specialist to see, we recommend selecting the Assessment Consultation option. This involves a comprehensive assessment with a qualified therapist, who will provide a tailored treatment plan based on your individual needs. If you require a written report following your consultation, please select the Assessment Consultation with Report  option when making your enquiry.

Our priority is ensuring you receive the most appropriate support for your specific symptoms, whether through our services or local services recommendations. We recognise that private therapy isn't accessible for everyone, and we are happy to help you explore free or low-cost treatment options available through local services where appropriate.

If at any point you feel uncertain about your treatment plan, or if your therapist believes an alternative approach may be more beneficial, we encourage open dialogue. You are always welcome to get in touch to review and adjust your plan.

How do I know the therapist is fully qualified?

BABCP is the lead organisation for cognitive and behavioural therapies in the UK and Ireland. They provide practitioner accreditation for CBT therapists living and working in the UK and Ireland. All of MindScope Psychotherapy clinicians are registered with the BABCP, BACP and some have additional registration with the NMC, BPS and/or EMDR Association.

Accreditation means that a CBT therapist has both core professional mental health training or recognised equivalent, as well as specific CBT training. To be accredited, BABCP members must have applied and demonstrated that they meet high standards of training and experience in CBT.

They also commit to maintaining our standards of clinical practice, clinical supervision and continuing professional development. Accredited members are audited to ensure that they continue to meet these expectations.

Employers, members of the public and other interested parties can check the accreditation status of a practitioner here. Please search by surname or membership number.

How long will my treatment last?

Every therapeutic journey is different, shaped by individual goals, experiences, and needs. At MindScope Psychotherapy, we take a holistic and collaborative approach to care. Your therapist will work with you from the outset to identify meaningful goals and create a tailored treatment plan. Together, you will review your progress and make any necessary adjustments along the way.

Some individuals may find that a short-term approach equips them with the tools to manage specific challenges and regain a sense of balance. For others, longer-term support may be more appropriate — particularly when addressing complex or longstanding difficulties. We recognise that progress is not always linear, and that healing looks different for everyone. Whatever your journey involves, your therapist will be alongside you, offering consistent support, guidance, and care.
